Livraria Lello in Porto
Livraria Lello is one of the most beautiful and famous bookstores in the world. Its wooden staircase, stained glass, shelves and historic atmosphere make it one of the most special stops in Porto.
What is Livraria Lello?
Livraria Lello is much more than a bookstore. It is a historic building known for its architecture, its spectacular central staircase and its very special atmosphere.
If you love books, charming places or iconic corners, it is worth adding it to your Porto route.

Practical information for your visit
Where is it?
Livraria Lello is located at Rua das Carmelitas, 144, 4050-161 Porto, Portugal, in a very central area.
How to get there?
🚇 Metro: get off at São Bento on line D and walk around 8-10 minutes via Rua dos Clérigos.
🚌 Bus: use Cordoaria or Guilherme Gomes Fernandes as reference stops. From Campanhã, line 207 stops near Guilherme Gomes Fernandes.
How much is it?
The general ticket costs 10 € and works as a voucher: if you buy a book inside, the ticket value is discounted from your purchase.
What can you buy there?
Besides books, the official store has special editions, collector books, notebooks, tote bags and souvenirs.
I especially liked the small pocket books from Livraria Lello’s own editions. They come in several languages and are easy to fit in your suitcase.

My Vuela With Me tip
Book your ticket in advance if possible and go early or with patience, because it is usually very busy. If you feel like buying a book, even better: you make use of the ticket-voucher and take home a lovely Porto souvenir.
